Graduation Requirements
All students must meet three (3) basic requirements to earn a diploma from North Medford High School:
Requirement #1:
Credits -Graduating students must earn twenty-four (24) credits in a program comprised of both required and elective classes (see below).
Requirement #2:
Proficiency in Essential Skills - In addition to credit requirements as outlined in OAR 581022-1130, a student must demonstrate proficiency in the essential skills of reading, writing, and mathematics. This has been suspended and will resume for the class of 2024.
Requirement #3:
Career-Related Knowledge and Skills -Students can earn Career Education credit or the equivalent in which students develop and education plan and profile, demonstrate an extended application of academic knowledge through a collection of evidence, and participate in a career-related learning experience and/or coursework related to their plan/profile.
Students can earn .50 credits per every semester of a course that they take receive a passing grade. The district shall offer students alternative credit options provided the method for obtaining such credits is described in the student's personal education plan and the credit is earned by meeting requirements described in OAR 581-022-2025.
Entering freshmen may bring credits with them from a Medford School District 549C middle school that counts toward fulfilling the 24 required graduation credits. Those credits brought to high school may include algebra, geometry, and/or a world language.
