Pathways

Students will select a Pathway while planning for their 10th grade year -this usually happens in the spring of their 9th grade year. Please keep in mind that in light of COVID-19, this process might be delayed for students. 

Yes! Students can switch their Pathway during their high school career if they decide that another Pathway is more suitable to their interests.

No, but the Medford School District believes that by choosing a Pathway, students will be more engaged in their entire high school experience, be better prepared for their futures, and more likely to graduate with an understanding of their knowledge, skills, and abilities.

No. A Pathway is simply a way for a student to explore an area of career/academic interest.

No. All students will still be required to complete the needed 24 credits to graduate. Pathway requirements can fit into those 24 necessary credits, as students can opt to take the courses that interest them while also becoming involved with other like-minded students, surrounded by caring adults, with other co-curricular activities in which they can participate. 

Yes. The student schedule allows for five courses per term. This schedule, coupled with our trimester grading period allows students to meet all core content course requirements AND participate in multiple electives and Pathway opportunities.

A credentialed diploma is a diploma that is tied to a career major course of study, in which a student earns an outside endorsement of accomplishment, which may include industry certification, dual credit, articulated credit or a qualifying score on an Advanced Placement or International Baccalaureate exam.
